"Girls Just Wanna Have Rum: A Fun-Filled Girls' Trip to Loíza, Puerto Rico

Sometimes, all you need is sunshine, your favorite girls, and a strong drink with a view. Our girls' trip to Loíza, Puerto Rico gave us exactly that—and so much more.

Just a short ride from San Juan, Loíza gave us a slice of island life that was vibrant, laid-back, and full of flavor. We kicked things off by checking into a cute beachside Airbnb, where the vibes were as tropical as our matching swimsuits.

First stop? Coconut drinks on the beach. Yes, real coconuts chopped fresh and spiked with rum—because hydration can be fun. From there, we found a beach bar where the music was loud, the mojitos were strong, and nobody cared how off-beat our dance moves were. (Thank you, reggaetón!)

We spent our days beach-hopping—Vacía Talega for chill sunbathing, Piñones for local eats, and a few hidden gems we stumbled on thanks to locals who gave us the inside scoop. Fried snacks like alcapurrias and bacalaítos became our go-to beach bites. Trust—you haven’t lived until you’ve eaten seafood with your feet in the sand.

At night, we turned up the fun. We bar-hopped our way through Loíza’s lively spots, sipping rum punch and piña coladas while meeting people who treated us like old friends. We laughed until we cried, danced until our feet hurt, and toasted to sisterhood, freedom, and doing life on island time.
